This is all I could come up with for Valentine's Day in my booth. I have hardly anything adorable, sweet, romantic, cutesy or other sweet temptations for Valentine shoppers, and it took me 1/2 hour just to do this strained vignette.
Pathetic. And I call myself an antique booth owner. Shame. That said, I love browsing other people's blogs and seeing their Valentine displays. The Polka Dot Closet is one of my favorite blogs - I can browse Carol's Victorian dream world for hours, but her lovely stuff is like sci-fi to me - it is not *my* reality.
My excuse for the above display (and I am sticking to it) is that I am not particularly fond of this holiday and never have been. And every year I absolutely DREAD those little card exchanges the kids have to do at school.
But hey, since I am not American I get a pass.
Right?

ReplyDeleteConsumers are pressured to spend money and consume and the true meaning of many holidays is lost and not honored. Some traditions have disappeared, like Arbor Day and May Day and seem romantic and useful...go figure. Life is too short for you to feel pressured to fill your booth with items if you don't wish to do so. Many people I know do not care for Valentine's Day but you are not American? I am horrified...:-0 Since Maine is so near the border, are you Canadian?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not a super fan of the holiday either. I have one item with a little heart and I put some felt heart garland up yesterday, and that's it. I looked around my giant antique mall and found that not very many vendors go all out for Valentines day so I don't feel so bad about it.
ReplyDeleteOur shop owner encouraged all the booths to go red, really heart up the place.....and I just didn't have the energy to do it. I feel like I just packed away Christmas! I will switch over the color scheme of my booth with the seasons, but for little holidays I don't really care too much about? Not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet and too kind with your comments about my blog...Now, my booth, nope not much Valentine decor there! I put out a few things and then when they don't sell, I put them in a box to pull out next year. Not really a holiday I decorate for, but I do like looking at everyone elses creations! You did about as much booth decorating as I did
