Do you thrift on vacation?

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to find the area's thrift stores, flea markets and antique malls.  Last week I went on a quick family trip to Virginia, where I used to live, and got to revisit several of my favorite thrift spots.  It was like seeing long lost friends!  Below is a video that shows a few clips from my thrift part of my trip.  Do you thrift when on vacation?

    Hey my friend,

Watching your video, I realized you were traveling through Hartford, Connecticut, the state I was born and raised in. Here's a quote: Asylum Street is named for the Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb, which later moved to West Hartford and is now called the American School for the Deaf.

If you check out the link above, you will learn something about the architecture of Asylum Street and see some photos. Connecticut has a long history for the treatment of mental illness and when I was young and we were less politically correct, if someone was acting at the end of their rope or a bit out of sorts, the question was, are you going to Middletown? Connecticut is a very pretty state, hope you enjoyed driving through.
I have to admit, I DREAM of thrift shopping when I travel, but my family does NOT encourage me, they think I am a hoarder and have too much stuff already.

  2. That's such a pretty drive! And that thrift shop looked like it was so full of goodies. Wish I had found something like that when I was in VA.

  5. I have made lists of thrift shops to check out on romantic weekends with my husband. Luckily, he loves a good treasure hunt as much as I do.

  7. I would make it just a thrifting vacation if I could, but I try not to stop at too many because my husband gets bored and kids do not enjoy it at all so I usually can only get myself to stop at one or maybe two unless I can squeeze some time on my own. Your videos are fun.

  8. I always try to fit in some thrifting when we're traveling by car. Before we leave, I make a list of local Goodwills, etc... and then hope that we pass by the store or are near enough for us to stop. My husband sits in the car (in silent protest) while I quickly peruse the aisles. The majority of the time, I do find goodies!

  9. I love visiting my Sister in Florida because we have a special day of just the two of us thrifting in her town! My husband would join us but it's the daddies watching the kids!! When my sister comes here, I take her to my shops!

I'm glad you like the videos, but I am deaf and cannot understand them.. I always looked forward to your written posts and the pictures you posted.
