Mad Maine Vintage Shop

This little blog will chronicle my ventures into selling vintage items in a local antique market.
My booth is called Mad Maine Vintage Shop - it features items inspired by a certain popular TV show,
and I am located in lovely Maine. Viva Vintage!

What's in your suitcase?

So, I have finally chucked the crutches and my verrrry expensive alley cat is back from the cat hospital, and today was the first time in a week that I went by the booth with some new finds from the weekend in tow, including this American Tourister suitcase.

Like I have talked about before, I love how you can use these things as display props for all your other odds and ends - and suitcases displayed this way seem to sell really quickly.  I think people get a better idea of how great they are for storage when they see an open suitcase like this.  That said, I have two briefcases stored to the right without any display gimmicks, simply because I am really empty on vintage office supply stuff, which I have normally displayed inside vintage briefcases.  People seem to LOVE old pencil sharpeners, letter openers, staplers, etc. - especially when peeking out from a vintage briefcase!

Also, even though I have hardly visited my booth at all these last few weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to see that some rather large items had sold, including the old school desk.  That thing had been sitting around since I moved into the bigger booth, and it had almost become a part of the booth itself.  Happy to see it go though, especially since the owner said a grandparent had bought it for their grandchild.  It just gives you a nice fuzzy feeling when you think that a certain loved item ends up in the appropriate environment, right?

Spring is finally making an attempt to appear hear in Maine, which is lovely.  How are things in your neck of the woods?

  2. I think I'd be buying from your booth!

I'm from northeastern Ontario - we've been under a rainfall warning for the past 24 hours, at least it took some of the snow!

  4. Happy to hear you are on the move again and that stuff sold even without your frequent attention. It speaks to how good your prices are and how well you arrange your stuff. :)
